Questions Canadians actually ask

Is it legal to install my own solar system in British Columbia?
It depends where you live — and we tell you straight. Truly portable, plug-connected gear needs no permits. Anything permanently wired to a building needs an electrical permit. As the owner-occupier of a single-family home you can pull a homeowner electrical permit through Technical Safety BC (or your municipality where it runs its own inspections, like the City of Vancouver) and legally do the work yourself, passing inspection. Grid-tie work must be done by a licensed electrician and enrolled in BC Hydro (or FortisBC) net metering. One call to your permit authority settles it — we include a checklist with every kit.
Will solar actually work in a BC winter?
Yes. BC spans a huge range: the Okanagan and Kootenays get excellent sun, while the coast and Island are cloudier — but modern panels still produce through overcast, and they love the cold. Our estimates use honest year-round averages for your area, not summer peaks, and our off-grid kits include real battery capacity to carry the darker months.
Do your kits really include everything?
If it needs a wire, the wire is in the box: panels, charge controller or inverter, battery where listed, racking, MC4 connectors, fuses, disconnects and a plain-language install guide. No surprise parts runs to town.
Do you ship across BC?
Yes. Palletized freight across BC is about $349 — the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands (ferry-served destinations) and the Interior all included. Exact freight is confirmed with you before anything is charged, and pickup in Calgary is free if you're passing through.
What if I buy the wrong size?
Use the instant quote tool, or send us the quote form and a real person will size it with you before you spend a dollar. Unopened kits have a 30-day return window.
