CALGARY — Calgarian actress, publicist, and entrepreneur Jill Maria Robinson has launched a national magazine dedicated to showcasing rising Canadian talent in the entertainment, fashion, and arts industries. The publication, which debuted in both digital and limited print editions, aims to give a platform to Canadian creatives who are often overshadowed by American and international counterparts.

Robinson, who was born in Romania and immigrated to Canada as a young woman, has built a multifaceted career in Calgary’s entertainment industry. As both a working actress and a publicist, she brings a unique perspective to the magazine’s editorial vision, understanding the challenges that Canadian artists face in gaining recognition and building sustainable careers.

Filling a Gap in Canadian Media

“Canada has incredible talent, but our artists often have to go to Los Angeles or New York to get noticed,” Robinson told WestNet News. “I wanted to create something that celebrates what we have right here — in Calgary, in Toronto, in Vancouver, and everywhere in between. Canadian talent deserves a Canadian spotlight.”

The magazine’s inaugural issue features profiles of emerging actors, musicians, fashion designers, and visual artists from across the country, along with industry advice columns and behind-the-scenes looks at Canadian film and television productions. Robinson personally conducted several of the interviews, drawing on her network of industry contacts built over years of working in the business.

A Calgary Success Story

Robinson’s journey from Romanian immigrant to Calgary media entrepreneur reflects the city’s growing creative economy. Once known primarily as an oil and gas town, Calgary has seen its arts and entertainment sector expand significantly in recent years, with local film productions, music festivals, and creative startups contributing to a more diverse economic landscape.

“Calgary gave me my start, and I’m proud to be building something here,” said Robinson. “This city has so much creative energy. People just need to know about it.”

The magazine is available online and at select retailers across Canada. Robinson plans to publish quarterly editions and expand the publication’s digital presence through video content and social media partnerships.
