The Calgary Stampeders have clinched a CFL playoff berth with a dramatic late-season five-game winning streak that has energized a fanbase hungry for a return to postseason football.

The Turnaround

After a sluggish 4–6 start that had many fans writing off the season, the Stampeders reeled off five consecutive victories to finish 9–6–1 and secure third place in the CFL’s West Division. The turnaround was fueled by the emergence of rookie quarterback Jake Firth and a revitalized defence.

“This team never quit,” said head coach Dave Dickenson. “We faced a lot of adversity early, but the character in this locker room is special.”

Firth Factor

Firth, a 24-year-old from Edmonton who took over as starter in Week 12, threw 14 touchdowns against just two interceptions over the final five games, earning CFL Player of the Week honours twice.

“I’m just trying to give my teammates a chance to win,” Firth said. “The offensive line has been incredible, and our receivers are making plays all over the field.”

Playoff Path

The Stampeders will host the B.C. Lions in the Western Semi-Final at McMahon Stadium on November 3. A win would send them to the Western Final against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“McMahon is going to be rocking,” said Stampeders president Jay McNeil. “Our fans deserve this, and we’re counting on them to bring the noise.”

Tickets for the Western Semi-Final went on sale Monday morning and are expected to sell out quickly. The Stampeders last appeared in the Grey Cup in 2019.
