A man wanted across Canada for a Calgary murder has been apprehended in Abbotsford, British Columbia, following a dramatic arrest operation on Tuesday.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) announced the arrest at 12:50 p.m. on April 22, ending a manhunt for the suspect charged with second-degree murder in connection with a Calgary homicide.

According to CFSEU-BC officials, the suspect had been evading law enforcement and was preparing to flee the Lower Mainland when officers moved in. Police conducted what they described as a "high-risk takedown" to safely bring him into custody.

"Despite his unsuccessful attempt to flee, officers were able to safely bring him into custody. No one was injured during the arrest," police said in a statement.

The arrest was coordinated by the CFSEU's Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, supported by dedicated surveillance resources and police dog services. The suspect has since been transferred to Calgary Police Service custody for processing related to the murder charge.

The suspect's identity has not been released by authorities. No further details regarding the original Calgary incident or circumstances leading to the B.C. arrest were disclosed at this time.
