The Calgary Wranglers will conclude their final regular season road trip to California on Tuesday night as they take on the Coachella Valley Firebirds in what promises to be a crucial matchup for both American Hockey League clubs.

Calgary enters the contest following a challenging weekend that saw them fall to both the Bakersfield Condors and San Diego Gulls. Despite the setbacks, the Wranglers showed offensive life in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Gulls after being held scoreless against Bakersfield.

The season series between Calgary and Coachella Valley sits at an even 3-3-1-0, making Tuesday's game a potential tiebreaker in what has become a competitive rivalry. The teams last met earlier this month in Palm Desert, where the Firebirds swept a two-game series with identical 4-goal performances.

Wranglers Finding Offensive Rhythm

Several Calgary players have discovered their scoring touch in recent games. Forward Clark Bishop has registered four goals and an assist over his last six appearances, while veteran Dryden Hunt continues his impressive campaign with points in nine of his last 11 games.

Hunt has been particularly productive, collecting 12 points during that 11-game stretch and surpassing his previous career high with 51 points this season. The milestone achievement exceeded his 49-point total from last season, which included time with the NHL Flames.

Defenceman Daniil Miromanov has also contributed offensively, appearing on the scoresheet in seven of the last nine games with eight points during that span.

Firebirds Present Familiar Challenge

Coachella Valley will counter with their own offensive weapons, led by Logan Morrison, who topped both teams' scoring charts when they met earlier this month. Morrison, the Firebirds' leading scorer with 55 points in 60 games, scored in both March encounters but has been held off the scoresheet since those meetings.

The Firebirds' balanced attack also features Jagger Firkus, who has contributed 54 points in 60 games this season, providing Calgary's defence with multiple threats to contain.

Playing for Pride and Opportunity

With playoff positioning becoming increasingly difficult, both teams are playing for different motivations. Calgary's young prospects and veteran players alike are seeking to demonstrate their value, with some potentially earning late-season looks from their NHL affiliate.

The competitive nature of the season series suggests neither team will concede easily, despite their respective standings. Both clubs have shown the ability to generate offence while struggling with consistency on the defensive side of the puck.

Tuesday's matchup begins at 7:30 p.m. MT and will be available for streaming on FloHockey. Sportsnet 960 The Fan will provide radio coverage for Calgary-area listeners.
