Morgan Frost has found new life with the Calgary Flames, and the 26-year-old centre is tantalizingly close to achieving something that has eluded him throughout his NHL career.

With 17 goals already this season and 12 games remaining on the Flames' schedule, Frost needs just three more tallies to reach the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his professional hockey journey.

The milestone has haunted Frost before. During the 2022-23 campaign with the Philadelphia Flyers, he sat at 19 goals with five games left in the season, only to come up empty in that final stretch.

"It would be nice, hopefully I'll stay hot," Frost said Tuesday. "A few years ago I was sitting on 19 with a few games left in the season and couldn't get it done, so it's something I've never done before and yeah, keep shooting and get open for Matty (Coronato), he's a passer now."

Since joining Calgary, Frost has become a key component in what many observers consider the Flames' most dynamic forward combination this season. Centring a line between rookies Matvei Gridin and Matt Coronato, Frost has helped create offensive chemistry that has energized the team's attack.

The trio's production has been a bright spot for Calgary, with Frost's veteran presence providing stability between two promising young talents. His recent scoring pace suggests the elusive 20-goal mark may finally be within reach.

For a player who has waited years to achieve this personal milestone, the remaining dozen games represent both opportunity and pressure. With the support of his linemates and renewed confidence in Calgary's system, Frost appears positioned to finally break through the barrier that has defined his career aspirations.
