Ontario law enforcement is intensifying efforts to apprehend a prime suspect in a deadly shooting at Lambton College in Sarnia that claimed the life of a 20-year-old student and left two others wounded.
The incident unfolded early Friday morning when emergency responders rushed to a campus bar at 12:52 a.m. to find three victims suffering from life-threatening and non-life-threatening injuries. Dane Nisbet, 20, was transported to Bluewater Health in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Multiple Arrests, Search Intensifies
Police have now made several arrests as the manhunt for the primary suspect continues. Investigators determined that two men were involved in the shooting — one who fired the weapon and an accomplice.
On Saturday, officers executed search warrants at two London, Ontario residences and arrested Oudom Bun, 23, of London. Bun has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
The focus of the investigation remains on 24-year-old Kyaw Doe, also of London, whom police identify as the main suspect and alleged shooter. Doe was operating under a court order prohibiting firearm possession at the time of the incident.
"Investigators believe that Doe went into hiding shortly after the murder and is actively evading police capture," police stated in a Saturday news release. "Police believe Doe has ties to criminal elements in both western and northern Ontario, and who may be assisting him. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached."
Doe faces charges of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
Additional Suspects Charged
Further searches at a Sarnia residence and Point Edward hotel unit on Sunday yielded additional arrests. Police recovered what they believe was the weapon used in the shooting, allegedly originating from the United States.
Two young adults have been charged with accessory charges after the fact to murder: Ava-Leigh Lightheart, 19, and Johnathan Osborne-Walsh, 19. Both were present with the suspects during the incident.
Anyone with information regarding Kyaw Doe's whereabouts is urged to contact Sarnia police immediately. The public is cautioned not to approach the suspect, who remains at large and is considered a serious public safety threat.
