A suspect is in custody after throwing a Molotov cocktail at the San Francisco home of OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman on Friday morning, authorities confirmed.

The incendiary device was hurled at Altman's residence in an early morning attack that also included threats directed at OpenAI's headquarters in the same city. Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.

"Early this morning, someone threw a Molotov cocktail at Sam Altman's home and also made threats at our San Francisco headquarters," said OpenAI spokesperson Jamie Radice in a statement. "Thankfully, no one was hurt. The individual is in custody, and we're assisting law enforcement with their investigation."

The 40-year-old tech executive, who heads the artificial intelligence company behind the widely-used ChatGPT platform, was not harmed in the attack. San Francisco police responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody.

OpenAI declined to provide additional details beyond confirming their cooperation with investigators. The motive for the attack remains under investigation by law enforcement.
