Calgary police have laid serious charges against a man accused of opening fire at a downtown CTrain station Saturday night, leaving two victims hospitalized in what authorities are calling a brazen act that has no place in the community.
The shooting erupted around 8 p.m. at the Victoria Park/Stampede LRT station when an argument between three men escalated dramatically. According to police, after the group exited the train, one man produced a pistol and fired on two others before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders arrived to find both victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One man was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition—since upgraded to stable—while the second victim was admitted in stable condition.
Swift Police Response Leads to Arrest
Calgary police apprehended the suspect shortly after the incident. The 26-year-old man now faces a serious criminal charges, including two counts each of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent to wound, plus single counts of possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Calgary court Wednesday.

Acting Staff Sergeant Corey Der emphasized the seriousness of the incident in a statement released to media.
"Brazen acts of violence like this have no place in Calgary and have a lasting impact on the community," Der said. "By needlessly putting members of the public at risk, the offender demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety of others. He will be held accountable for his actions."
