An early morning collision in Airdrie escalated into gunfire Friday, leaving four people hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and prompting a major police response.
The incident unfolded on Bayside Boulevard between 8 Street and Canals Link shortly after dawn. According to Alberta RCMP, the crash involved multiple vehicles and quickly turned into an altercation that ended with shots fired from at least one of the vehicles involved.

RCMP officials say the confrontation appears to have been a targeted incident rather than a random act of violence. All four people injured were transported to hospital, though none sustained life-threatening wounds. Police have not released details on the identities of those involved or the circumstances that sparked the initial collision.
