A tragic motorcycle accident in Okotoks has claimed the life of a 19-year-old resident, leaving the community mourning and prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday evening along Milligan Drive. Emergency responders, including RCMP and EMS personnel, arrived quickly at the scene and initiated life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the young motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision resulted in a significant traffic disruption for the area. RCMP closed Milligan Drive between Drake Landing Road and Ranch Road for several hours while emergency personnel worked the scene and conducted their initial investigation. Residents were advised to avoid the area during the evening hours. The roadway was fully reopened to traffic shortly after 11 p.m.

The RCMP has not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the collision or whether other vehicles were involved. Motorcycle safety remains a critical concern for law enforcement agencies across Alberta, particularly as spring and summer months bring increased riding activity.

The Okotoks RCMP continues to investigate the incident. Residents with information about the collision are urged to contact local police.
