An Alberta man is now facing second-degree murder charges following a fatal incident in the northwestern community of Valleyview, Alberta RCMP confirmed Saturday.
The incident unfolded Thursday night around 11:39 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a man lying in the middle of Highway Street near the 3800 block. First responders arrived to find 38-year-old Valleyview resident Dolan Badger, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The death immediately triggered an investigation by Alberta RCMP's Major Crimes Unit. By Saturday morning, investigators had identified a suspect: 27-year-old Valleyview resident Jayden Houle was arrested and formally charged with second-degree murder in connection with Badger's death.
Court Appearance Scheduled
Houle has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Grande Prairie on Monday. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
Police Seek Witness Information
Investigators are actively seeking the driver of a semi-truck who was in the area during the time of the altercation. Police believe dash cam footage from the commercial vehicle could prove crucial to understanding exactly what occurred Thursday night. A photograph of the semi-truck was released to the public Saturday.
