Authorities searching for a missing University of Florida doctoral student have discovered human remains in Tampa Bay waters, marking a grim development in a double-homicide investigation that has shocked the academic community.

The remains were located in Pinellas County near Interstate 275 and 4th Street North on the St. Petersburg side of the Howard Frankland Bridge late Sunday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Formal identification is pending.

Nahida Bristy, 27, disappeared last week alongside her fellow doctoral student Zamil Limon, 27. Limon's remains were recovered Friday from the Howard Frankland Bridge, found wrapped in multiple black utility trash bags in advanced stages of decomposition.

Hisham Abugharbieh, 26 and Limon's roommate, was arrested Saturday and faces two counts of premeditated first-degree murder with a weapon. He remains in custody without bond.

AI Chatbot Evidence Raises New Questions

Court documents unsealed Sunday reveal troubling allegations about Abugharbieh's search for disposal methods. According to investigators, the suspect queried ChatGPT on April 13—days before the students vanished—asking what would happen if someone was "put in a black garbage bag and thrown in dumpster." When the AI chatbot warned the scenario sounded dangerous, Abugharbieh allegedly responded: "How would they find out."

On April 15, the day before the disappearances, court filings indicate Abugharbieh asked ChatGPT about altering vehicle identification numbers and firearm storage without licensing. Hours after midnight on April 17, he allegedly queried whether vehicles are "checked" at nearby Hillsborough River State Park.

Phone records place the suspect's device at the Howard Frankland Bridge location that same evening—where Limon's body would be discovered.

Forensic Evidence from Crime Scene

An autopsy determined Limon died from multiple stab wounds and lacerations. Investigators discovered significant blood evidence throughout the shared apartment—from the entry foyer through the kitchen, hallway, and into Abugharbieh's bedroom, where patterns suggested a human-sized struggle.

Abugharbieh himself bears numerous lacerations on both legs, according to court documents.

The suspect is due back in court Tuesday. He is being represented by a public defender.
