Calgary police are investigating a targeted shooting that left two men with gunshot wounds after they were dropped off at a city hospital early Saturday morning.

The victims arrived at the hospital around 3:30 a.m., prompting hospital staff to immediately contact Calgary Police Service, according to Staff Sgt. John Guigon.

"This was without a doubt a targeted shooting and there is no ongoing danger to the public," Guigon said during a media briefing.

Investigators are facing challenges piecing together the incident as the victims have been reluctant to cooperate with police, making it difficult to determine crucial details about what transpired.

"We have not uncovered the location of the original shooting, nor have we uncovered the reason for the shooting," Guigon explained. "All we can definitively say is that it was a targeted shooting and that our general community is not in danger."

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity or have information about the shooting to come forward. The investigation remains active as officers work to determine where the shooting occurred and what led to the violence.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about targeted gun violence in Calgary, though police emphasize this appears to be an isolated incident with no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Calgary Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
