Calgary-based Keyera Corp. is making bold moves to cement its position as a major player in Canada's energy infrastructure, announcing a $1.2-billion deal to take full ownership of the KAPS Pipeline in northern Alberta.
The acquisition from New York investment firm Stonepeak represents a significant bet on the company's long-term growth strategy. Keyera will now own 100 per cent of the 575-kilometre pipeline system that moves natural gas liquids and condensate from the prolific Montney and Duvernay resource plays to downstream markets near Fort Saskatchewan.
The move underscores Keyera's aggressive capital deployment strategy. To fund the purchase and other growth initiatives, the company raised over $1.6 billion this week through a combination of equity offerings and debt issuance — a substantial mobilization of resources that signals confidence in the company's future revenue potential.
